EUROPE-AUSTRALIA 1977:

In 1977, approximately 18 months before the Shah of Iran was overthrown in the Islamic Revolution and 2 years before the Soviet Union decided to invade Afghanistan, two Dutch students, Frans van Schaik and Jan van Kruijsbergen, decided that the time was right to ride around the world by motorcycle. On August 15, 1977 they set out on their first leg: Europe-Australia.
Below is Frans' account of the preparations and journey, as reconstructed from his travel journal, with some contributions by Jan van Kruijsbergen based on Jan's travel journal.
